AY383 - Malibu

AY383
Malibu

The inspiration for the model 'Malibu' comes from the classic cat eye glasses. Back in the 1930's Altina Schinasi, a young American designer, noticed the lack of stylish options for women and created the cat eye shape.

The name 'Malibu' comes from the city near Los Angeles. It is one of the most posh places in the world, where you can find houses built alongside the beautiful beaches of the West Coast.

Description

Our sunglasses are made of 100% biodegradable acetate from Mazzucchelli in Italy, Coated OBE hinges from Germany and UV protected CR39 lenses.

All styles in this model have a lens category 3: These sunglasses provide a high level of sun glare reduction and good UV protection.

Every pair of AY's you purchase plants one tree and removes a kilo of plastic waste from our oceans.

CR-39 sun lenses

CR-39 lenses with anti reflective coating (a thin coating applied to the surface of lenses to reduce reflection and glare). CR-39 are resistant to shattering and scratches and have a light weight feel.

OBE hinges

OBE are a power house in the optical industry and has been so since its founding in 1904 - in particular due to their role in developing spectacle hinges. The strength of an OBE hinge is its dimensions and special rubber coating making the friction and longevity just right.

High quality italian bio acetate

Mazzucchelli — faithful to its “tradition of modernity” — has developed a new eco-friendly thermoplastic material. M49 is an innovative formula which blends cellulose acetate with a plasticizer from natural sources. The components derive from renewable sources and fuse two types of fibres; fibres from seeds (cotton) and fibres from wood (conifers and broadleaves) - making it 100% biodegradable.

Premium packaging

When you take pride in your product, you need to wrap it right and tight. With our packaging, aesthetics meets form and function.

The sunglasses comes in a white hard box with uncoated papir with a white and hot stamp logo on top. Inside the box the sunglasses will be put into a clear pvc case with logo and a brand statement printed outside. There will also be a white cloth with logo in the box.

James Ay is not only a brand, really, it’s a philosophy. A way of exploring - and experimenting with - all layers of life.
